On my first try at M1 (The Crab Nebula) with a DSLR I was pleased to have captured some of the veined appearance this object is noted for. At last night's meeting of Milton Keynes Astronomical Society I was fascinated to see that a photo of the same subject that John Bell had acquired with his modified Canon(which has better sensitivity to H-alpha) revealed this veining to a much greater degree and produced a very different looking image. I shall be interested to see what my CLS filter produces on this when I get a chance to try it. Details: 25/11/08. 10" f4.3 Newt@prime focus. Unmodified 450D @iso400. 5x 150second exposures (images only) in Deep Sky Stacker & CS2.
